Abstract

Assessment in education is crucial for the effectiveness of teaching and learning. At SMP Negeri 19 Palu, there is a significant gap between assessment planning and implementation, often misaligned with the current curriculum. This highlights the urgent need to enhance teachers' competencies in creating and executing high-quality assessments. Intensive training for Indonesian language teachers was conducted through community service activities, focusing on assessment theory, practical development of assessment instruments, and comprehensive strategies for reporting learning outcomes. The training methods included lectures for foundational knowledge, interactive discussions to solve field-related issues, and practical sessions for hands-on application. This approach aimed to deepen teachers' understanding of holistically measuring students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The training results showed a significant improvement in teachers' abilities to develop assessment instruments aligned with the curriculum and students' needs. Moreover, teachers are now better equipped to implement diverse and in-depth assessment techniques, enhancing learning quality and supporting students' overall competency development. This community service activity has bolstered teachers' pedagogical capacities.
