Plagiarism Policies

"CERGAS: Community Empowerment Research and Global Action Studies" is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. Plagiarism, in any form, is considered a serious violation of scholarly ethics and undermines the credibility and integrity of scientific research. As such, the journal has implemented the following plagiarism policy:

  1. Definition of Plagiarism: Plagiarism is defined as the act of using someone else's words, ideas, or work without proper attribution or permission and presenting them as one's own. This includes, but is not limited to, copying text verbatim, paraphrasing without proper citation, and self-plagiarism (i.e., reusing one's own previously published work without acknowledgment).
  2. Plagiarism Detection: All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous screening using plagiarism detection software to identify any instances of potential plagiarism. The journal employs a similarity threshold of below 15%, beyond which further investigation and corrective action may be warranted.
  3. Author Responsibilities: Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality and authenticity of their submitted manuscripts. They must appropriately cite and reference all sources used in their research, including direct quotations, paraphrased text, and ideas derived from other sources. Authors should also disclose any prior publication or submission of the same work elsewhere to avoid self-plagiarism.
  4. Editorial Actions: In cases where plagiarism or misconduct is detected, the editorial team will take prompt and appropriate action in accordance with established guidelines and ethical standards. This may include rejection of the manuscript, notification of the author's institution or funding agency, and prohibition of future submissions to the journal.
  5. Appeals and Corrections: Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions related to plagiarism allegations and provide clarifications or corrections as needed. However, any appeals must be supported by valid evidence and adhere to the journal's guidelines for ethical publishing.
  6. Educational Outreach: The journal is committed to promoting awareness and understanding of plagiarism among authors, reviewers, and readers through educational resources, guidelines, and best practices. By fostering a culture of academic integrity, we aim to prevent plagiarism and uphold the quality and credibility of scholarly research.

Authors are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the journal's plagiarism policy and guidelines for ethical publishing before submitting their manuscripts. By adhering to these principles, authors contribute to the advancement of knowledge with integrity and transparency.
