Journal License
CERGAS: Community Empowerment Research and Global Action Studies is committed to maximizing the reach and impact of our authors’ work. To this end, all content published in SHIELD is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. This license promotes academic freedom and open access by allowing anyone to freely share, use, and build upon the work published in our journal, provided that appropriate credit is given and new creations are licensed under identical terms.
Key Features of the CC BY-SA License
-
Attribution: Anyone using the work must give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the journal, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. Such credit does not imply endorsement by the original authors or CERGAS.
-
ShareAlike: If the material is remixed, transformed, or built upon, the resulting work must be distributed under the same license as the original. This clause ensures that all derivative works will remain as open access as the original work.
Advantages of the CC BY-SA License
-
Promotes Collaboration and Innovation: By allowing derivative works under the same terms, the CC BY-SA license encourages collaboration, adaptation, and innovation among scholars, practitioners, and the public.
-
Ensures Accessibility and Reuse: The license guarantees that CERGAS's content is accessible for educational, research, and practical purposes, facilitating a broader impact on society.
-
Compliance with Open Access Mandates: The CC BY-SA license aligns with the open access policies of many funding bodies and institutions, ensuring that authors comply with their grant requirements by publishing in CERGAS.
Applying the License
Authors who publish with CERGAS agree to have their work licensed under the CC BY-SA license. This agreement is made upon manuscript submission and is necessary for publication in the journal. Authors should understand that the CC BY-SA license is irrevocable, meaning that articles cannot be withdrawn from the open access terms once they are published.
