The Ogoh-Ogoh tradition, as a cultural heritage of Bali, faces preservation challenges amid global modernity. This study analyzes the impact of hegemony on the preservation and strengthening of religious values in the Ogoh-Ogoh tradition, using Antonio Gramsci's Marxist hegemony theory to explain how these values are maintained or adapted in a modern context. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method in several villages in Bali, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and content analysis of related documents and media. Data analysis was conducted using a hegemonic theory approach. The results show that the Ogoh-Ogoh tradition not only survives but also adapts by integrating modern elements into its celebrations while maintaining its original religious and cultural values. Cultural hegemony, driven by dominant groups within Balinese society, plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions and practices related to this tradition. This study also analyzes the use of language in Ogoh-Ogoh narratives, demonstrating how linguistic elements contribute to cultural preservation. Implications for policymakers and cultural practitioners include the importance of strategies that leverage hegemonic forces to support cultural sustainability in the context of globalization. This research offers a framework for examining how other traditions in Indonesia and globally can be preserved amid the challenges of modernity.
